C&G Remembers the ANZACs
‘Lest we forget.’ It’s that time of the year again - when we pay tribute to and recognise the service and sacrifice of those Australians who have served in war. The 25th of April this year marks the 99th anniversary of the Gallipoli landings and the infamous event we know as ANZAC Day. C&G urge you to join the around the nation to honor the brave men and women who have served our country, and to reflect on the Anzac spirit and its place in Australia today.
Here are a few ways to commemorate this meaningful day locally:
6am – Celebrate and pay tribute to Australian servicemen and women this ANZAC Day (April 25) at the Dawn Service. The service will take place at the Shrine Forecourt 6am, however we recommend that you arrive from 4.30am onward to secure a prime position. The Official Wreath Laying Service commences at 8.15am (assemble at 7.45am).
9am - Get down to St Kilda Road for the annual ANZAC Day March. Commencing at the intersection of Flinders and Swanston Streets and concluding at the Shrine of Remembrance, the March is a great way to pay tribute to the ANZACs, alongside thousands of veterans, their descendants and current serving personnel. Wreaths will be laid at the Shrine throughout the march, which will finish at approximately 12.45pm.
1pm – Stick around after the March for the Commemorative Service, which will take place on the Shrine Forecourt. The Service will include an address from Governor of Victoria, Alex Chernov.

For those of you looking to commemorate ANZAC Day bayside, meet at the Beaumaris Concourse, Reserve Rd, at 2.15pm on Sunday 20th of April to commence the 2014 Commemorative March. The march will be followed by a Commemorative Service at 3pm, which will take place at the Beaumaris Community Centre Forecourt, Reserve Rd. Refreshments will be served directly after the service at the clubrooms – 489 Balcombe Road, Beaumaris.
