C&G’s 4 Favourite Things About the Beach in Winter

Local Community

Summer might be well and truly over here in Melbourne, but that’s not to say our beautiful Port Phillip Bay should go to waste. In today’s blog, C&G share our four favourite things about the beach in winter – rug up, Bayside!

Crisp Winter Running Along the Bay Trail

Running in the sweltering Melbourne summer is tough going – that’s why we love throwing on a puffer and hot footing it to the Bay Trail during the winter months. As the cool air blows, you’ll feel refreshed and rejuvenated after a run or jog along the Bayside coastline. It’s the perfect way to earn that hearty brunch at Brighton Schoolhouse or Plain Sailing in Elwood.

Hot Choccie Doggie Walks

Winter means our pooches are welcome at more of Bayside’s beaches. Buddy up with a friend or find a local meet up group near you, and enjoy a relaxing dog walk with a steaming hot cup of hot choccie from Middle Brighton Baths.

Watching The Icebergers

Fancy the idea of bracing the cold but can’t quite find the gusto to do it? Head down to Brighton Beach and watch the brave Icebergers as they plunge into the chilly waters of Bayside. Who knows – perhaps it’ll fire you up to join in yourself!?

Catching an Early Sunset

One of the best things about winter is cosy evenings with the fire roaring, a good movie on and a pizza on the way. Why not take a detour on your way home from work to one of the bay beaches and catch an early sunset? You’ll get some extra steps in and have some mindful ‘me time’ as you watch the sun set on the horizon by 6:12pm – all before dinner’s ready!
