C&G Support: St Kilda City Football Club

Local Community

There’s nothing quite like rugging up on a crisp winter morning to watch a game of local footy. Huddled at the fence with hot pie in hand, there’s a really unique sense of community in the coming together to barrack for the local lads.

Chisholm and Gamon are proud to sponsor one of our biggest bayside teams – the St Kilda City Football Club. With both a Division 1 Seniors and Reserves team in this year’s Southern Football League, we urge you to get on down to the Peanut Farm Reserve on Saturdays to support St Kilda in this year’s fight for the premiership.

The St Kilda City Football Club has been part of bayside’s sporting landscape for decades, originating as the ‘Inkerman Rovers’ back in 1946 in a social football competition. The club has been a happy home for a number of elite players, with recent AFL retirees Ezra Poyas, Danny Jacobs and Nathan Carroll all tasting premiership success at the Peanut Farm. With five premiership wins for St Kilda City FC’s Seniors team over the past thirteen years, we’re thrilled to see where the boys can take it this 2014 season.

Entry to the Peanut Farm Reserve is free, and the Reserves kick off at an easy 11.45am – so don’t worry, there’s still plenty of time to sneak in your Saturday sleep-in. Seniors take to the field at 2.00pm. Enjoy a famous ‘City Burger’ cooked fresh on the BBQ, plus pies, sandwiches and the whole host of familiar football fare. Beer, wine and other drinks are also available at ever-charming local footy club prices. Followers are welcomed behind the scenes, so don’t be surprised if you find yourself in the club rooms chanting the victory song after a game!

Getting behind your local football team is a really fantastic opportunity to see some top quality Division 1 football and become more involved in your community. Who knows – you may even witness the next AFL star in the making. C&G hopes to see you cheering on the Saints sometime soon.
