CG: Cracking Christmas Leftovers

Local Community

With Christmas feasts, it’s very easy to get swept up in planning a delicious and decadent menu to serve to your family… and just as easy to over-cater. At Chisholm and Gamon, we believe it’s always better to have too much food than not enough, and after taking a peek at these recipes, you might end up ‘accidentally’ making twice as much yumminess as usual!

Turkey

Didn’t gobble-gobble all your turkey during Christmas lunch? Lucky you! Now you can put those leftovers to good use.

It’s many a family that tucks into a turkey sandwich the evening (or handful of evenings) after Christmas, but after having a look at this recipe, it’s unlikely you can go back to the humble white bread and bird. Try a turkey, cranberry and brie toastie with your leftovers, and feel like you’ve got the scraps no longer.

Perhaps you have another Christmassy function in the days following your first lunhc. Dress up your turkey leftovers into a turkey strudel with butternut pumpkin, and let the compliments roll in.

So a few days have passed and you’ve finally digested enough to eat another substantial meal. Gather your leftover turkey and your leftover gravy and give this delicious turkey stroganoff a go, with hardly any work!

Ham

If your leftover ham is looking a little ho-hum, fear not! We’ve got just the recipes to bring new life to it.

You can’t go too wrong with a nutritious and filling salad in the post-Christmas comedown. So much rich food can get overwhelming, fast! Give your gut a rest with this leftover ham cob salad, with a guilt-free ranch dressing. Yum!

The good thing about ham is its versatility across the meals of the day. It’s just appropriate at dinner as it is at brunch. Put that leftover ham to good use and whip up a crustless quiche – perfect for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or middle of the night snack!

Plum pudding

Didn’t leave enough room for dessert and ended up with leftovers of Chrissy pud?

You’ve got to try these individual leftover Christmas pudding caramelised crumb toffee swirl bombs. It’s a mouthful of a name, for sure, but after one bite, you’ll also find yourself with a literal mouthful until your plate is clean!

If there’s one man who knows a lot about cooking up delicious Christmas food, it’s Jamie Oliver. For leftover plum pud, he recommends a pudding and ice cream sundae.

Are you the kind of person who could maybe, possibly, just fit in one more bite – but certainly not another slice? These little puddy truffles are made for you!
