How to celebrate Australia Day Bayside
In today’s blog, C&G have compiled a bunch of fun-filled Bayside events to help you celebrate Australia Day in 2018 - lamington milkshakes included!
Loud crackling fireworks, mouth-watering sausage sizzles, and a slice of Nana’s famous once-a-year Pavlova –Australia Day has arrived Bayside! With Melbourne’s CBD jam-packed with tennis fans and the annual Australia Day parade, why not head Bayside for a relaxing long weekend filled with delicious food trucks, beach parties, swimming activities and free art exhibitions? With plenty of Bayside happenings this long weekend, C&G have selected the cream of the crop!
1. Flag Raising – Black Rock
Bayside City Council will be celebrating Australia Day with a flag raising and citizenship ceremony at Black Rock House Garden. This momentous occasion welcomes all members of the Bayside community with proceedings beginning from 9:30am.
2. Australia Day Swim - Mount Martha
This fundraising event - coordinated by Mouth Martha Lifesaving Club and Optus - features a swimming competition for all ages and abilities. With trophies and prizes awarded throughout the day, over 100 lifesaving personnel will oversee the event.
3. The Master of Colour – St Kilda
Fancy seeing some jaw-dropping art this Australia Day? Head down to the Laneway Arts Space in St Kilda to see Aboriginal artist Kudditji’s amazing exhibition. Studio opens from 10 am.
4. Burger Bar – St Kilda
For true blue Aussie burgers, head to St Kilda Burger Bar. Open all day, grab a burger before heading to the tennis or the beach – what’s more Australian than a lamington milkshake?!
5. Australia Day Parties – St Kilda
Get down and boogie this long weekend at Village Belle. With a huge Australia Day music line-up, catch up with friends over cocktails and amazing tunes.
