The Ultimate Bayside Guide to This Weekend’s Garage Sale Trail

Local Community

So you’ve heard about the Garage Sale Trail but don’t know if you want to trawl through endless streets looking for who’s registered? Luckily for you, C&G have rounded up some of the best Bayside garages sales to pay a visit. You’ll find everything from kids toys to furniture, and with over 1300 sales registered in Melbourne alone, there’s plenty to discover.

If you’re not familiar with the concept, the Garage Sale Trail is Australia’s official garage sale event. Each sale is registered, and you can search to find specific items you’re looking for and map out your day of bargain hunting. It’s a great opportunity for those relocating to sell off their furniture, or for anyone to have a good clear out. There are charity sales across the city too, where all proceeds raised go to those in need. With Spring in the air, it’s the best time for a clear out – and an even better time to snap up some unique items at a great price. Here’s our pick of the best sales in the Bayside area:

Castlefield Community Centre Sale

This charity sale is offering everything from clothes and shoes to books and furniture, with donations coming from far and wide. Their neighbours are also having garage sales, raising funds for MND. This sale is still accepting donations, so if you’ve got some good condition items but don’t fancy hosting your own sale, drop them by, too. Oh, and there’s a sausage sizzle. Bonus!

The Beaumaris Everything Must Go Sale

A great one for young families or those with a little one on the way, this family are relocating – and selling pretty much everything in the process. Great quality baby items including breast-feeding pillows, highchairs, pram and brand new child locks are on offer. Help them clear out their belongings for a stress free move, and pick up some essentials along the way.

The Crafty Sale

If you’re after a new sewing machine – or some baby accessories – this sale is for you. In the heart of Beaumaris, Helena, Sabine and Brooke are selling off plenty of great quality items.

The Fashion Brands Sale

‘Spring into a bargain’ with some top fashion brands, fitness equipment and pet accessories! Not far from here is another clothing seller, at the All Things Clothes, Shoes and Homewares sale. Dress up yourself and your home with top buys from these stalls. For vintage lovers, Cecil Place Op Shop will be taking part, with a huge range of eclectic styles on offer.

The Mega Mega Dalgetty Street Stall

This entire neighbourhood are getting stuck into the trail. With around ten stalls open in the one street, it’s a great visit if you’re after variety and a good browse. Oh, and one of those stalls is cake! Enough said.

These were some of our favourites, but with too many to even count, head to the Garage Sale Trail website and check out everything else in your area. With so many registrations this year, why not try pot-luck and wander around your local area and see what you can find – and don’t forget to tweet us your purchases at @ChisholmGamonRE!
