Valentine’s Day by the Bay

Local Community

As we flip over to February, inevitably the call of Valentine’s Day makes itself loud and clear. The big day of lurrrve falls on a Friday this year – so couples across Melbourne will be gearing up for an especially indulgent evening. At C&G we think that - even if you’re unattached this year – it’s a good excuse spend a decadent night with loved ones anyway.

Valentine’s Dinner

Nothing is more iconic of cupid’s celebrations than a Valentine’s Day dinner. Make sure to book ahead now, because come Friday 14th February every table in town will be taken. Veludo on Acland Street in St Kilda has a Valentine’s three-course set menu at $75pp, with cocktail on arrival and a bottle of wine to share with your loved one over the night. Trendy Campari House in the CBD is also hosting a Valentine’s Day event. Nestle in with your significant other in the laneway restaurant, or for singles - try your luck mingling on the famous rooftop bar!

Pack a Picnic

Take the evening to laze on a picnic blanket with your Valentine and a veritable spread of delicious food and wine. Stake a claim on the beach, or spread out in the picturesque St Kilda Botanical Gardens. Nearby, fine-dining restaurant Fitzrovia even provides the convenience of pre-packed gourmet picnic hampers to bring a touch of luxury to your lounging. For budget romancers, swing by your local deli to pick up an antipasto spread and tipple of choice.

Romance on the Big Screen

Re-live those first date movie moments with a visit to the cinema. Many of the larger cinemas will be offering special Valentine’s packages, like Hoyts’ ‘A First Class Valentine’s Day’ complete with Gold Class admission, Chandon on arrival and a full dining experience during the film. However - the stylish, arthouse cinemas dotted along the bay are also a romantic choice in and of themselves. Relax with a drink before your screening in the deco foyers of Elsternwick’s Classic Cinema, or Brighton’s Palace Brighton Bay or Palace Dendy Brighton
