C&G’s Guide to AFL Grand Final

Tips & Advice

It’s Grand Final weekend! It’s such a huge deal Victoria has dedicated a public holiday to it, and this means that both adults and kids will be spoiled for choice when it comes to activities. There will be parades, festivals, food and shopping – all AFL themed! In this C&G blog we round up some exclusive Grand Final festivities for all your extra time!

Grand Final Parade

Head to the Old Treasury Building on Spring Street, as the AFL Grand Final Parade takes off around 12pm on Friday 27 September. Join the marching bands, entertainers and thousands of dressed-up fans making their way to Yarra Park at the MCG. You’ll be rewarded with a concert from Australian rock band Birds of Tokyo later in the evening!

Footy Festival

Until Saturday 28 September you’ll be able to enjoy a free celebration of Australia’s biggest sporting event. Just outside the MCG you can treat yourself to player meet-and-greets, giveaways, music and food trucks! There’s also an obstacle course, playground and Nintendo Interactive Zone for the kids to enjoy. This will be the best place to wind down after the big game as well.

AFL Pop-up Shop

You don’t want to show up at the game without your scarf! Luckily, Collins Square will be the ultimate retail destination for anything AFL. Come to their Retail Plaza between now and September 26 to stock up on your footy merchandise for the year! They will be running a guernsey personalisation station where you can even bring your own one and have it customised on the spot. Otherwise there are heaps of competitions and giveaways including a handball competition with the official Sherrin footy mascot.

Hopefully these exciting events will keep you entertained and excited all weekend. Fingers crossed for your favourite team – hopefully you’re celebrating good news at the afterparty!
