The Festival of Glass has commenced and will be running until the 28th of February. Its main event, the Festival of Glass Expo, returns to Drysdale on the 16th of February for its 10th anniversary! This year, there will be over 50 exhibitors showcasing their glass creations at Christian College from 10-4pm. The festival will also feature demonstrations, host a treasure hunt, and showcase the entrants to the 2020 Glass Art Awards. The Festival of Glass is the ultimate celebration of the beauty and creativity of glass, supporting both local and international artists. There is also a focus on promoting sustainable practices, cultural economy and showcasing of skill.

Exhibitors and Demonstrations

Exhibitors will feature different glassware from functional homewares to beautiful sculptures and jewellery pieces. Some notable names include Dax Designs, At Studio 125, and Rhino Glass Beads.

Try Your Hand at Glass Art

Visitors will have the opportunity to try their hand at glass art! You could make jewellery, mosaics and even leadlighting. Who knows, this could be the start of a newfound hobby!

Treasure Hunt

The Festival of Glass Treasure Hunt is well under way! You can pick up an entry form from the local Drysdale and Portalington businesses or follow this link for more details. All you need to do is spot the hidden glass treasures in each business, which you can trade for stamps allowing you to go in the draw for some exclusive prizes. The winners will be announced at the Expo on the 16th of February. Check out the treasure hunt map here!

The Glass Art Awards

This exclusive award is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Drysdale and spans 5 main categories from functional glass to wearable glass! This year, over $6000 worth of prizes will be awarded to ground-breaking works as well as the opportunity to display winning pieces in local galleries.
