C&G’S GUIDE TO: Local Produce and Farmers Markets
Produce and Farmers’ Markets are an ideal place to purchase fresh, organic fruit and vegetables from trusted and dedicated local suppliers. In this C&G blog, we highlight our favourite Bayside and Southside produce markets that are guaranteed to transform your weekend grocery shopping experience.
BAYSIDE FARMERS MARKET: The Bayside Farmers’ Market is held from 8.00am - 1.00pm on the third Saturday of each month. An initiative of the Regional Farmers’ Markets and the Hampton & Sandringham Rotary Clubs, this event sees hundreds of incredible volunteers coming together to make a difference in the local community.
VEG OUT: Operating for over 14 years, Veg Out St Kilda Farmers’ Market has an abundance of fresh, seasonal and organic produce, free range eggs and meats, flowers and more. Held on the first Saturday of each month, this market directly supports primary producers from around the state, incorporating certified organic and conventional growers alike.
SOUTHERN ICON: Conveniently located in close proximity to C&G’s Bayside suburbs, South Melbourne Market is arguably the city’s most iconic and treasured marketplace. Locals and visitors flock to this destination to shop fresh produce as well as discover, connect, eat, drink and much more! Explore the calendar full of live music, events and activities today!
ELWOOD: Held at Elwood College on the second Saturday of every month, Elwood Farmer’s Market is an authentic market dedicated to bringing the best of Victorian produce and artisan foods to Elwood. Boasting over 40 stalls, this market has everything from fresh fruit and vegetables to coffee and delicious treats. The biggest selling point for the C&G team? All dogs are welcome!
GASWORKS: Located in Albert Park, Gasworks Farmers’ Market is focused around reconnecting the producer and consumer directly. Their main philosophy is that all goods are grown, made and loved by those who sell them. Held on the third Saturday of each month.
