C&G’s Guide to Melbourne Fashion Week
Taking over the city for eight days, Melbourne Fashion Week celebrates the best in Australian fashion, art and design this August. In today’s blog, C&G unpack the program and share all the best bits to help you plan your visit.
Scattered at eclectic locations across the City of Melbourne, MFW runways are your exclusive chance to catch a sneak peak of the trends of the new season, as well as the latest collections from some of Australia’s best designers. For an extra special evening, opt for a VIP or Gold package and sip on bubbles from a premium seat. Most notably, the Access to Fashion runway celebrates diversity within the fashion industry and endeavours to solve the issue of disability exclusion in the media.
Away from the glitz of the runway, MFW conversations discuss important issues in industry and offer tips to those wanting to make their mark in fashion. So You Want to Work In Fashion welcomes keen new talent to an insightful panel discussion on what it really takes to make it in the world’s most exclusive industry, while Building a Brand speaks to budding entrepreneurs and managers about what makes a brand successful. Where Do My Clothes Come From by Creative Victoria aims to educate fashion lovers on the importance of ethically sourced clothing and raises important issues surrounding the sustainability of popular fashion.
In its Australian premiere, We Margiela comes to ACMI as part of the Fashion on Film series to tell the story of one of the most influential avant-garde fashion houses, Maison Martin Margiela. Co-founder Jeremy Mirens bravely explains what lead to the sale of the fashion house, and the legacy that was left behind.
Back for its fourth year, Vogue American Express Fashion’s Night Out is bigger and better than ever, now running from 10am-10pm across two style-packed days. Expect installations, pop-ups, runways, exhibitions, street style, champagne, freebies and special offers from your favourite retailers across the City of Melbourne. Plan your visit here.
