Since its conception in 1993, the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival has grown to a 200-strong list of events, facilitated annually by a core team of 18 staff and hundreds of volunteers. It’s about showcasing the best things about Melbourne, and C&G are proud to present their edit of the best feature events around Bayside.


Bright n Sandy Food & Wine Festival – Sunday March 6
It’s the 12th year for this celebrated Brighton Festival, which promises a family friendly day out at Green Point Gardens in Brighton. Beside the iconic bathing boxes of the foreshore, and set against the classic Melbourne cityscape, guests can enjoy the wares of over thirty food and wine vendors, as organised by the Bayside City Council. $2.50 entry on the day.


HEAT’s Homeless Lunch
– Friday March 4
While Hospitality Education and Training (a program of Melbourne City Mission) is not offering ticket sales on this one, it’s worth showing your support as the event aims to present over 230 Australians experiencing homelessness with the opportunity to enjoy fine dining and top notch service at the mouth of Luna Park. To donate $55, to cover one three-course meal for someone in need, click  here.

Roman Feast with Karen Martini – Thursday March 10
We’re talking about a banquet worthy of Julius Caesar! Author, TV presenter and master chef, Karen Martini, presents five extravagant courses featuring whole birds, delicious pasta and suckling pigs. The dining style in communal in true Roman tradition, and will be held at Mr Wolf, St Kilda. Tickets here.

 
From Pier to Plate – Saturday March 5
 
Seaworks presents ocean fare at its best on Williamstown’s seafront. Aside from fresh ocean goodies, you’ll find local beer, wine, cooking demonstrations, live music and games for the kids with ‘real’ pirates and mermaids! Take the chance to meet some of Melbourne’s best seafood chefs and enjoy some of the freshest quality seafood around. Get your tickets here.

Mordialloc Food, Wine & Music Festival – Saturday 5 to Sunday 6 March
The Peter Scullin Reserve in Mordialloc is hosting two days of diversity, from the drinks and delicious food to the live music and Vikings Spit Roast lunch! Enjoy a local beer or wine while learning the culinary arts with live cooking demonstrations. Passionately nicknamed ‘Mordi Fest’ by the locals, you won’t want to miss it! Entry is $2 on the day. 


A Gin Experience in a Beach Box – Saturday 5 to Sunday March 13

Hailed as the ‘ultimate gin experience’, this specialty event will cover an introduction to the world of gin production and reveal the secrets to its making. Working in pairs, guests will develop their own gin product under the guidance of Bass & Flinders Distillery, which will be custom labelled and sent out after the event. And the best bit? All the action happens at Mount Martha Beach Box 123. A unique experience if we ever saw one! Tickets here.
