C&G’s Guide to Port Melbourne

Tips & Advice

Wondering whether you should make the move to Port Melbourne? We say a resounding yes! In this C&G blog, we explore some of our favourite things to do in this historic and diverse suburb only 5km south of the CBD.

Sunday sessions in one of Port Melbourne’s many pubs

Port Melbourne boasts a range of characterful pubs, with one on almost every corner. Each has its own charm, making it the perfect postcode to always try out somewhere new, knowing it will be a great time. Hot spots like The Local, The Pier and the Exchange Hotel are great places to start.

Fish and chips on the beach

There aren’t many places that you can sit back and watch the ships sail by, but in Port Melbourne you’ll have front-row access to them docking off. Port Melbourne Beach plays host to some amazing cruise liners, including the Spirit of Tasmania. Treat yourself for the day, grab some fish and chips and take in the great outdoors.

Have a big, late brekkie

The brunch craze is well and truly alive in Port Melbourne with new cafes popping up all the time. You can pop over to Balderdash and dip into some eggs at the beloved 19th century pub turned café. Or if you have a particularly sweet tooth, you can hit up Long Story Short for their fairy floss burger. With so many cafés on offer, you’ll never have a boring breakfast again.

Take photos at Princes Pier

If you are a keen photographer (or you just like posting on Instagram), then you cannot miss out on snapping pictures on Princes Pier. This heritage pier puts on a fine show at sunset AKA ‘the golden hour’. Plus, it is within a short stroll to quaint shops and restaurants - so you can grab a bite to eat after you’ve filled your camera roll.

Get fit a different way

Cycling is a great way to keep fit, but the guys at Bohdi and Ride will change how you think about fitness. Their cycle studio is home to a range of classes ranging from high intensity dance club sessions to Yoga and Ride sessions for those who want a calmer experience.
