5 Reasons to Love Mt Martha

Local Community

A favorite bayside location amongst ‘those in the know’, Mount Martha is situated between Mornington and Safety Beach along the Mornington Peninsula. Although it only has a small central location, Mt Martha has a lot to offer from gorgeous coastal walks, cultural hubs and places to eat. Here is C&G’s list of things we’re loving in Mt Martha.

Original Oz Art Gallery

Situated in the central district of Lochiel, this fantastic gallery is owned and operated by Peter and Christina Nolan. Open 6 days a week from 10am till 5pm, locals and tourists can take in some of the best art Australia has to offer. Showcasing everything from landscapes, still life, contemporary to photography, this artistic hub of Mt Martha is not to be missed.

Balcombe Estuary Reserve

Nothing beats a bit of fresh air, and there’s no better place to do it than Balcombe Estuary Reserve. Conveniently located near Mt Martha Village shops, it was used a camping ground from early 1900's to 1985, before being made crown land. Since 1986, rehabilitation of the area has been overseen by (BERG) Balcombe estuary rehabilitation group. The 44 hectares of bushland have some wonderful walking tracks that give you a 360 degree view of the landscape. There is also a picnic ground with BBQ’s and a playground in case you want to take a break for some lunch.

Water to Water Festival

This indigenous music and cultural festival is held annually in Briars Park. This family friendly event promotes cross cultural awareness and celebrates some of the best indigenous art, dance and music. So bring your picnic rug, sit back and be delighted by traditional dance and storytelling, or try your hand at some craft while sampling some scrumptious bush tucker.

The Dava Hotel

The Dava Hotel is a local favourite in Mt Martha, serving up delicious hot meals, cold beers with stunning views of the beach. Open 7 days, it’s a great place to bring the family with mouth-watering steaks for the adults and plenty of yummy options for the kids. But for those looking to stay on and have a few more beers, the bar is open till late every night.
