5 Things To Love About Elwood

Local Community

Elwood is a hip and trendy favorite of the Bayside area. Super close to the CBD but benefiting from top notch beaches, a unique village vibe and beautiful architecture, it was tough for team C&G to pick just 5 things we  love about this area. From nature walks and shopping to food and community events,
C&G has put together a list of some of the best things to see and do in Elwood.

Elwood Market

The Elwood Community Market is a popular event where much-needed funds are raised to support the continuing development of Elwood Primary School. Eight Saturdays a year, volunteers bring along craft items and baked goods for sale in the food hall, along with a great selection of vintage ‘trash n’ treasure’, plants, clothes, jewellery and farmer’s market goodies. There’s also a jumping castle, animal farm and ice cream van for the kids to enjoy – whilst parents are adequately catered for with a BBQ and barista coffee.

Elwood Food and Wine Bar

The Elwood Food and Wine Bar is a popular social hub at the end of the Village Elwood strip. Chic and stylish, it is well-known for scrumptious breakfasts and warm lunches - definitely a go-to for Sunday brunch or a cheeky takeaway coffee on the way to the beach.

Elwood Beach

Melbourne is known for its gorgeous beaches, and Elwood is no exception. There’s nothing better than feeling the sand between your toes and paddling through the water in the summer time, but it’s just as nice in the winter - rugged up enjoying some fish and chips with the family.

The King of Tonga

If you’re into themed bars, then The King of Tonga is for you. Located on Tennyson St, this Elwood bar has a fantastic selection of wines and cocktails on offer, and kitsch vintage art to match. Pull up a seat and enjoy some seasonal morsels at the bar while you’re there.

Historical walking tour

Immerse yourself in local legend by going on an historical walking tour of Elwood. Led by the author of ‘The History of Elwood’ Meyer Eildson, you will have the chance to explore Ormond Road village while getting a run down on the story behind Elwood’s architecture, foreshore and indigenous sites. A must-do for history buffs or new residents to the area.
