A Very Bayside Australia Day

Local Community

January 26th is almost upon us, and many of you will be looking forward to spending the national holiday with family and friends, and enjoying the beautiful Bayside weather. Whether it’s live music, sporting competitions or a lazy day at the beach, C&G have rounded up some of the best Bayside events kicking off this Thursday, to help you plan your day.

Swimland Great Australia Day Swim

Grab your togs and a towel and head to the Rotary Club of Brighton to partake in the Great Australia Day Swim. Funds raised will support the Rotary Club, who provide much-needed assistance to local organisations like BayCISS, a not-for-profit that offers assistance to disadvantaged members of the Bayside community.

Don’t forget to print off the registration form in advance and bring it along with you on the day to save time (get the PDF here).

Australia Day at Docklands

Just a short tram ride from C&G’s Port Melbourne office, the Australia Day celebrations on Harbour Esplanade are the biggest and best in Victoria! From 6pm, there’ll be roaming entertainers, fireworks, music and ‘The Great Australian BBQ Food Truck Festival’ – a smorgasbord of international barbecue cuisine. All ages are welcomed.

Meet the Australians of the Year

The Australian of the Year Awards celebrate the contributions of everyday Australians who have risen to the challenge of helping others. The finalists have been announced for each state – and while some of their stories are heartbreaking (read Deng Adut’s story here) – each one is truly inspirational. You can watch the Australian of the Year Awards live on ABC TV (or iView) at 7.30pm on Australia Day. Also on air will be ‘Australia Day at the Opera House,’ hosted by Grant Denyer with Kerri-Anne Kennerley and Gretel Killeen on TEN.

From the friendly team at Chisholm & Gamon Real Estate, we hope your Bayside Australia Day is a safe and happy one.
