C&G Peninsula Lifestyle

Local Community

Peninsula life – it sure is a breeze! A destination in summer yet beautiful all year round, the area surrounding C&G’s Mt Martha office represents the pinnacle of Bayside living. From stunning walking trails and ferry rides to wine tastings and fine dining, we’ve assembled our pick of winter activities on the Mornington Peninsula to prove to you just how refreshing a seachange can be, at any time of year.

A Nature Retreat

Just over half an hour’s drive from our office, The Royal Botanic Gardens in Cranbourne present an easy walking trail with gardens, creeks, playgrounds and a sandpit. Meticulously maintained with its own café and souvenir shop, it’s a great day out for the whole family.

If you enjoy getting out and about in nature, it’s also worth checking out the Moonlit Sanctuary Wildlife Conservation Park in Pearcedale. With ten hectares of bushland, kids and adults will enjoy meeting a variety of endangered species, feeding kangaroos and petting koalas. Don’t miss heading to one of their famous lantern-lit tours to catch some of the more nocturnal animals!

Fancy getting up close with local sealife? You can swim with wild, bottle-nose dolphins and Australian fur seals by taking a three-hour tour from Sorrento Pier, or explore a range of activities including fishing, sailing and other marine activities here.

There are more than a hundred walks to discover, too. You can find them all on the Peninsula’s official tourism website, where they’ve been divided by distance and difficulty, complete with maps! Check them out here.

Provincial Pleasures

Talk a walk through the hinterland to forage for seasonal produce before relaxing beside a roaring fire with a glass of local red wine and a woodfired pizza! That just about sums up weekends on the peninsula, where residents enjoy provincial produce that is seasonal, fresh and local every day! To get a true sense of the peninsula lifestyle, why not take the Wine Food Farmgate Trail? It can introduce you to a range of destinations and current events showcasing the best epicurean delights of the season! The winter edition of their E-Magazine is available now and you can read it here.

For wine lovers, the Mornington Peninsula is an international destination in itself. From the renowned Montalto Vineyard & Olive Grove to Merricks Creek Winery and Paringa Estate – you can while away an entire weekend touring the local wineries.

For a full foodie experience, don’t miss Max’s Restaurant at Red Hill Estate and Stillwater at Crittenden Estate as well!

There are a huge range of wine tours on TripAdviser if you’d like the planning done for you, but once you move to the Peninsula – going to a cellar door for a gourmet lunch or cheese platter with wine will become second nature!
