C&G’s Guide to Christmas Eve in Bayside

Local Community

‘Twas the night before Christmas, and all throughout Bayside, festive cheer was abundant, and children’s eyes wide. Here’s C&G’s guide to the best way to spend Christmas Eve in beautiful Bayside.

A Walk Along the Shores

The Christmas weekend weather is forecast to be a scorcher, so what better way to kick off Christmas Eve than with a walk along Bayside’s beaches? Work up your Christmas appetite and make the most of the sun-drenched festive season. Pick up a coffee, hot chocolate or spiced chai to get you in the mood. Some of our favourite spots include Elwood’s Combi, St Kilda beach’s Beachcomber and Brighton Schoolhouse.

That’s a Wrap

Once you’ve embraced your coastal walk, it’s time to head home, throw on some Christmas tunes and finish off the wrapping. Try these Spotify Christmas playlists, prepare a jug of these festive cocktails and set up a production line of cutters, wrappers and stickers. Your grotto of pressies will be sorted in no time.

Treat Time

All indulgences are valid on Christmas Eve, Baysiders. Wrapping is hard work – there’s a reason Santa loved his mince pies and baked treats so much! Take your weary, wrapper-extraordinaire arms down to your local bakery and pick up some fresh-outta-the-oven treats. You’ve earned it! A walk along St Kilda’s Acland Street will have you spoilt for choice, and Phillipa’s in Brighton bakes fresh sausage rolls to die for.

Settle In and Wait for Santa

Take home your tasty treats, pop on the TV and enjoy Vision Australia’s Carols by Candlelight, and of course, a Christmas movie. Channel 10 are showing Home Alone 2: Lost in New York at 6.30pm, or for something more contemporary, Pixar’s Shrek the Halls is screened on Channel 9 at 7pm. Once you’re sufficiently worn out, it’s time to hit the sheets and prepare for Christmas Day. Don’t forget to plate up goodies for Santa, and leave some carrots for his reindeer!
