Need some inspiration for entertaining the family these school holidays? With plenty of low-cost and virtual attractions happening across Melbourne, there’s something to suit everyone. This latest C&G guide has all the answers for keeping the little ones entertained this month! 

KidsCo Virtual School Holiday Program

KidsCo brings next-level fun and educational programs to your home. You can have activity kits delivered, with all the resources your child will need for the day. Qualified teachers are available online from 8:45am to 4:30pm to engage, interact with your family, and answer any questions. All you need is a computer, laptop or tablet. You can also still go into the draw to win a full week of virtual school holiday activities for January here

Audioplay

Pop on some headphones and step into an adventure! Audioplay is podcast-meets-audio book-meets-creative play, putting kids at the heart of the story and allowing them to explore different characters. All about creative activity, Audioplay will help build a sense of empathy and teamwork - without too much screentime! Designed for 6-12 year olds, the digital platform provides an active and human approach to technology, with a broad range of stories to experience.

Sea Lions: Life by a Whisker 3D at IMAX

This immersive IMAX 3D documentary explores the heart-warming journey of a sea lion pup and the man who has dedicated his life to save her species. It’s a classic coming-of-age tale filled with hope, humour and wonder. You'll embark on an epic quest through the uninhabited wilderness of the Great Australian Bight, to the lush kelp forests off the Californian coast, experiencing everything the underwater world has to offer. Junior Keeper at SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium

Have you ever wondered what it takes to be a professional animal keeper? The SEA LIFE Melbourne Aquarium’s Junior Keeper is a fantastic activity for all ages. Listen to five fascinating keepers talk about their careers as they take you on an exciting underwater tour. Kids will be able to locate each keeper on screens placed throughout the aquarium, filling in an interactive worksheet and learning about everything in the day of a professional zookeeper. They will also receive a commemorative Junior Keeper certificate at the conclusion of the session!

School Holiday Crafternoon Activities

Join Tessa and Julianne for some crafty fun that will keep the kids busy these summer school holidays. Hosted online by State Library Victoria, this event is suitable for 3-12 year olds, along with their parents and carers. In five bite-sized video tutorials, you’ll learn how to craft items like stickers, unique and sustainable DIY wrapping paper, and fragrant bath salts. Enjoy the process of creating something you’ll be able to use and appreciate!
