Make a splash this summer with a refreshing ocean swim. Great for the mind, body and soul, ocean swimming has tons of benefits, and in today’s blog, C&G shares some of the best ocean swimming events around the Bay. 

South Melbourne Port to Park, February 3

There’s no better place to make a splash in the Bay this summer than the Port to Park. Starting at Port Melbourne pier across a 1.1km course ending at Albert Park, swimmers will enjoy incredible views under the scorching February sun. As a trial, this year’s event will also include a 2.2km race for more seasoned swimmers. Details and entry information can be found here.

The Rip Race, February 3

One of Bayside’s most iconic swims, The Rip Race runs from Point Nepean to Point Lonsdale. A true ‘bucket list’ event, this 3.2km swim is not for the fainthearted. You’ll need to be a fairly strong swimmer and be able to handle unpredictable conditions to take part. Up for the challenge? Enter here

Club 2 Club, February 10

A 1.8km swim from Edithvale Lifesaving Club to Aspendale Lifesaving Club, Club 2 Club offers a slightly longer distance than many of the open water classics – perfect if you’re looking to up your ocean swimming game. Enter here. 

Indented Head Wreck 2 Reef, February 11

Among the picturesque backdrop of Indented Head, Wreck to Reef offers four distance options for every age and ability. A 2.5km experienced swimmers distance leads the way, while a 1.2km classic, 500m novice and a 300m junior dash means everyone can get involved! Enjoy the calm and protected waters of Half Moon Bay as you soak up the event atmosphere and incredible bay views. Enter here.

Half Moon Bay Cerberus Swim Classic, February 17

Offering a 1.2km and 2.5km option for both the newbie and the experienced ocean swimmer, the Half Moon Bay Cerberus Swim Classic makes the most of the last few weeks of summer in glorious Bayside. Sign up here.

Brighton Bathing Box Classic, February 24

Postponed from an originally agreed date in December, the newly scheduled Bathing Box Classic offers a 2.5km or a 1.2km race option. Enjoying the iconic surroundings of Brighton beach, this end-of-summer ocean classic is the perfect challenge to round off your swimming program. Enter here.

Jalna Big Bay Swim, February 25

Closing off the summer ocean swimming calendar, the Jalna Big Bay Swim kicks off from Port Melbourne along a 3.2km route, finishing at Commonwealth Reserve in Williamstown! An incredible challenge for those experienced in long distance ocean swimming, the Big Bay Swim will feature a guest appearance from Hall of Fame Open Water Swimmer, Chloe McCardel. Once you reach the finish, a family festival awaits in Williamstown, with rides, entertainment and market stalls. Enter here.
