C&G’s Guide to the Spring School Holidays

Local Community

It’s time to get brainstorming, as school is almost out for spring! With breezy blue skies and plenty of sun on the agenda, your family are spoiled for indoor and outdoor activities over the spring break. Starting on the 23rd of September, C&G are happy to point you in the right direction for school holiday fun: here’s our guide to week one of the break.

Spring Carnival at Luna Park

Southside’s favorite theme park, Luna Park, will welcome your little ones with open arms (as well as its iconic open mouth) these school holidays! After a restful winter, the Scenic Railway is back on track and new feature rides are ready to go. They include the Samba Balloon Ride, Fantasy Cups and a brand new Mini Ferris Wheel. As a special surprise, characters from The Emoji Movie will visit Luna Park each Saturday of the holidays from 12 – 3pm!

Melbourne Fringe Festival

Melbourne Fringe Festival continues with its jam-packed agenda right through the spring holidays. There are still plenty of fun-filled events, cabaret shows and artistic performances to enjoy: find a great guide to what’s on in the Port Phillip area here. The C&G team recommend heading along to the WouldMan show – and if you’re happy to explore a little further north, there’s plenty more for the kids to enjoy in the festival’s Kids Club.

Footy Fever

There’s excitement in the air as finals fever hits Melbourne! With the AFL Grand Final falling on the middle weekend of the holidays, hopping on a tram and visiting Toyota’s Footy Festival at Yarra Park is a perfect celebration of the great game. We’re convinced your little footy players will be particularly interested in the Kids Zone! Head in to the CBD early on Friday the 29th of September to catch a glimpse of the champs at the AFL Grand Final Parade.

Horrible Harriet at Arts Centre Melbourne

Who doesn’t love Leigh Hobbs’ hilarious children’s book Horrible Harriet? Now you and your youngsters can enjoy the tale in a whole new format – on stage! Wicked, wild and wonderful Harriet will be telling her terrific story throughout September. Book today!

Stay tuned: next week C&G will provide you with your guide to what’s great for families in week two of the spring holidays.
