Hello, Easter Long Weekend: C&G’s Guide to What’s On

Local Community

Few areas of Melbourne know how to kick back and relax quite like Bayside – it’s probably something to do with the beach culture and refreshing ocean air! At C&G, we’re predicting this Easter break will be no exception, with loads of fun activities to keep everyone entertained and full of chocolate all weekend. Read on.

A Day at the Races

Just fifteen minutes from C&G’s Elwood office is Melbourne’s beloved Caulfield Racecourse, which presents the perfect opportunity for a laid back family day out. Kids will love Cadbury’s ‘Best Ever Easter Egg Hunt’ – along with sporting activities on the lawn, face painting, crafts, pony rides and more. You’ll love the Pimm’s Garden Party, delicious food and Easter Cup Races!

Enjoy some art and culture

Speaking of horses, Gift Horse is a solo exhibition from mixed media artist Anna Louise Richardson. The show, which is located in the Gallery at Bayside Arts and Cultural Centre (BACC) in Brighton, will explore the public’s ongoing fascination with the racing superstar, Phar Lap. James Pheonix’s Trans Palette Painting is also showing – a collection of beautiful still life works that combine realism with an exploration of the abstract. Check the gallery’s opening hours in advance – while the BACC is typically open from 1pm-5pm on weekends, these hours may differ on Easter Sunday.

If galleries aren’t your thing, the Melbourne International Comedy Festival (MICF) is on now until April 23, and there are heaps of great comedians in town that’ll have you in stitches! Check out C&G’s MICF Southside Edit of the program to discover which ones are performing near you.

All aboard the Easter Express

On Easter Sunday, join the Easter Bunny in hopping aboard a heritage locomotive at Moorooduc Station, which will take you through to Mornington Station. There’ll be Mornington Railway shuttle buses at the station to take you into the main shopping area and back, so you can enjoy a day on the peninsula before taking the steam train back to Moorooduc. Book now to avoid disappointment.

Family Days Out

For those located near our Mount Martha office, take a twenty-minute drive to Frankston for the local Good Friday Family Day, featuring rides, markets and live entertainment - proceeds will go to the Royal Children’s Hospital. Green Olive at Red Hill is also hosting an Easter Egg Bonanza on Friday, so children aged three and up can have fun hunting eggs while parents enjoy a sneaky glass of wine and some gourmet produce. For those near Cranbourne, the Melbourne Easter Show is on all weekend and includes egg hunts, an animal farm, craft zone, show rides, food trucks and more!
