Southerly Adventures: Autumn on the Mornington Peninsula

Local Community

There’s nothing like the fresh ocean air, the sand beneath your toes and that glorious stretch of blue water lapping at your feet. Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula offers all this and more, and it is full of things to do and discover this autumn. Anyone in need of a seachange will find solace and inspiration on the Peninsula – and in order to help you embrace and explore everything the Peninsula to offer, Chisholm & Gamon have compiled a list of must-see places to whet your appetite for the coastal life.

Heronswood

Situated right across from the beach, Heronswood comprises a restaurant, gardens, nursery and shop. The restaurant sits within the historic Heronswood House, serving amazing homemade meals and in-season vegetables from their organic gardens. Right now those gardens are alive with vibrant autumn colours, and avid gardeners will be awestruck by the nursery and grounds. This autumn there is also a Cider & Perry Making Masterclass on in April for homebrew enthusiasts! So if you’re after a seachange experience with a twist, you can’t go past Heronswood.

Morning Star Estate

This breathtaking mansion and gardens is only a stone’s throw away from a small and secluded stretch of beach, and offers panoramic views over Port Philip Bay. Those looking for the tranquil serenity of the coastal life need look no further. Visitors can enjoy an exquisite lunch in the mansion, stroll through the gardens and vineyard, then simply drive down the road to the beach for a swim!

Enchanted Adventure Garden

For those with children a visit to the Enchanted Adventure Garden is a must. Situated a short drive from the beach (and Heronswood), the Garden is a children’s wonderland, with mazes, tube slides, canopy walks, zip lines and more! Anyone wanting to soak up the atmosphere of the Peninsula with their family can enjoy a fun-filled day out: why not visit the Garden in the morning so the kids can work off all their extra energy, then finish the day with a quiet afternoon tea at Heronswood and a trip to the beach?
