Whether you’re after locally produced organic foods or handcrafted artisan homewares, there’s something on each weekend. Markets have proven to be a great platform for creative Victorians to showcase their original works and products. This latest blog from C&G lists some of our favourites – have a read!

Bayside Farmer’s Market

Head to Jetty Road in Sandringham every third Saturday of the month from 8:00am to 1:00pm for the Bayside Farmer’s Market. There’s only a $2 entry fee which goes towards supporting the Hampton and Sandringham Rotary clubs’ projects. These involve providing goods for homeless Victorians and sanitation for villages in undeveloped countries. The market itself is run by friendly volunteers with heaps of stalls selling fresh vegetables, fruits and delicious meals. To top it off, everyone including dogs are most welcome.

St Kilda Esplanade Market

Originally an exhibition for artists, the St Kilda Esplanade Market now offers over 250 stalls of art and products from local makers. You’ll be spoiled for choice with original homewares, bags, hats, jewellery, metalwork, ceramics and photography – just to name a few! The full stall directory can be found here. Located on the Upper Esplanade, you’ll be immersed in culture while enjoying the open air and beachy vibes of St Kilda. The market is open every Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm.

Elwood Farmer’s Market

This family and dog-friendly market is held at Elwood College on the second Saturday of every month. From 8:30am until 12:30pm you can browse over 40 stalls of fresh fruit and vegetables, organic chocolate, free range meats, local seafood and coffee. What’s not to love?

Veg Out St Kilda Farmer’s Market

This is another market run by the organisers of Elwood Farmer’s Market, and held on the first Saturday of each month at the Peanut Farm Reserve from 8:30am to 1:00pm. It celebrates organic, chemical-free garden produce with an artisan twist. There are over 140 plots for visitors to show off their green thumbs, or learn the basics of gardening and make new friendships. The event is underpinned by values of community and conservation, so BYO wonderful personalities and a bag because this market is plastic-free!
