C&G’s Guide to Christmas in July

Tips & Advice

It’s well and truly winter on this side of the globe - and whilst all those Downunder celebrate Christmas by the beach – it is not so for our friends in the northern hemisphere. In today’s C&G blog, we present you with a selection of ways to celebrate Christmas in July, giving you a taste of a traditional ‘cool Yule’ in the heart of winter.

Black Rock Christmas in July

Get down to the Black Rock Yacht Club on the evening of the 28th of July to celebrate Christmas in July with dinner, drinks and an open fire. There will be a choir singing carols and prizes to be won for the best Christmas-themed attire. Something fun - be sure to book your ticket! Details here.

Skating Melbourne

It’s likely you’ve seen Christmas montages in romantic American movies featuring outdoor skating rinks surrounded by twinkling lights. If atmospheric ice skating is your idea of a Christmassy winter evening, then rug up and head down to Southbank to experience a skating experience like no other. It’s the very first time Melbourne has a skating rink to enjoy adjacent to the Yarra River – be sure not to miss out. More info here.

Night Market at Queen Vic Market

Warm up with mulled wine and your favourite winter comfort foods while celebrating Christmas in July your own way! Just like our very own atmospheric European Christmas Market, Melbourne’s Queen Vic Night Market is a place to soak up the good vibes while doing a spot of shopping. Runs every Wednesday evening from 5pm to late – more information about this classic Melbourne winter activity here.

Celebrate Christmas in July at Yours!

Forget the crowds altogether and gather with your friends and family, cook up a roast, set the fire and enjoy your very own Christmas in July at home. Nom on rich fruit cake, eggnog and roast turkey with all the trimmings whilst singing carols and sharing presents in a Kris Kringle. Sounds good? Be inspired with Nigella Lawson’s classic Christmas recipes here – and don’t forget to try your hand at Ham in Coca-Cola!
