C&G’s Guide to Halloween 2019

Tips & Advice

Halloween is looming… do you have your costumes ready? There’s still plenty of time but we thought we’d give you a rolling heads up with the most haunted Halloween-themed events on the calendar. This latest C&G blog delves into the darkest corners of Bayside and Melbourne to conjure up some great options for showing off that costume! Whether you are a casual black cat or the devil himself, there is something for everyone.

Spooktober at Luna Dark

A few horror movies have started in an amusement park… we’re thinking Us, It Chapter Two… Alas, there won’t be any creepy clowns at this exciting family-friendly Halloween extravaganza. From October 25 until November 3, St Kilda’s Luna Park will be given a makeover and transformed into a spooky wonderland of ghouly ghosts and mini monsters (the kids!). There will be two haunted houses to conquer – Haunted Fairytales for the light-hearted and Extreme Phobia for those who laugh in the face of fear. There will also be a Trick or Treat Trail, which only costs a gold coin donation to enter and supports the MyRoom Children’s Cancer Charity. The event organisers have also strongly recommended that you wear a costume! There will be a dedicated ‘Fang-tastic’ photobooth with props to capture your scariest pose in, and a competition with amazing voucher prizes for the best-dressed guest! All your favourite Luna Park rides will still operate daily throughout Luna Dark. To avoid missing out buy your tickets here!

Royal Melbourne Hospital Halloween Historical Lantern Tour

The history buffs among us will enjoy this guided tour led by story-teller-extraordinaire Jeff Whittington on Saturday 26 October, starting at the Royal Melbourne Hospital in Parkville. You’ll hear fascinating stories about the history of these heritage-listed listed buildings, and perhaps a surprise appearance by inmates and matrons from 1869! The entire grounds will be decked out in spooky Halloween décor – you’ll fit right in if you’re donning your creepiest costume. We only ask that you wear closed-toe shoes so no freaky accidents happen, and that you arrive on time to avoid being left behind! Tour attendees will be able to enjoy free parking. Book your tickets here.

The Great Astor Spooktacular Halloween Movie Marathon

It’s not Halloween without the slasher and zombie flicks that truly define the horror genre. From Dawn of the Dead to A Nightmare on Elm Street and Scream, you’ll be in for an edge-of-your-seat night at the majestic Astor Theatre in St Kilda. A true cultural hub, this classic cinema will be treating guests to a full night of back-to-back horror film showings starting at 7pm on Saturday 26 October. Get your tickets here.

Friends of Black Rock House Halloween Dog Parade

And something for the pets! Your pooch can join in the howl-loween spirit and flaunt its style at the Friends of Black Rock House Halloween Dog Parade! This is an event that C&G are proud to announce we will be supporting, with gold coin entries being forwarded to Second Chance Animal Rescue. Come dressed up on October 31st at 6pm with your best paw forward as there will be prizes awarded to the best dressed dog and owner. Check out the event page here!
