C&G’s Guide to Online Events in October

Tips & Advice

Hello October! We’ve spent so much time at home, a change of scenery sounds like a great idea. Luckily, there’s no shortage of virtual events on the calendar, so you can stay entertained without leaving the comfort of your couch. From a week-long games celebration to virtual roller skating classes, this latest C&G blog rounds up the most exciting events this month.

Melbourne International Games Week

This year, the Melbourne International Games Week will be running from the 3rd to the 11th of October. A celebration of gaming, culture and technology, it’s no stranger to the digital space and will be hosting all its events online. If you participated last year, you may have enjoyed solving the true crime mysteries of Melbourne’s Little Lon. This year’s roleplaying game is The Mummy of Pemberley Grange, which will be part of the event’s Big Games Night In on the 4th of October. Weekend plans? We think so! You can also check out the full program of digital goodness here.

Yarra Valley Garden Party

Spring is in full swing, and the Yarra Valley is the perfect place to enjoy it. Luckily, this weekend (the 2nd to 4th of October) you can enjoy a free party among the vines without leaving your home! Why not dress up for fun, and treat yourself to a Garden Party Pack filled with bubbles, rosé and delicious Spring recipes! Check out the full program here, which includes a morning yoga session at Alowyn Gardens, sourdough making class, and cocktail masterclass with Four Pillars. Cheers!

Learn to roller skate… virtually!

You’re probably tired of walking around the neighbourhood in your normal shoes, right? How about switching up your exercise routine with new wheels? St Kilda’s very own Rolla Bae’s Instagram channel is filled with videos teaching you how to skate like a pro! You can learn to moonwalk, toe stop slide, spin, crossover, and of course stop and start safely. Rolla Bae’s caravan pop-up skate shop is scheduled to return to St Kilda Beach when restrictions lift, so learn those skills and be ready to roll your way into Summer, ‘80s style!

Feel like a quiet night in?

For those low-key days in, there’s plenty of new shows and entertainment to stream. Broadsheet rounds up the best new shows to binge in their latest article. If you couldn’t get enough of Baby Yoda in the first season of The Mandalorian, season two is on the way!

For unlimited laughs, Comedy SOS is bringing an excellent line-up of Australian comedians to entertain you all weekend. Don’t miss favourites such as Kitty Flanagan and Arj Barker premiering their latest comedy specials. Time Out has all the details here!
