C&G’s Guide to Preparing Your Home for Spring

Tips & Advice

Before we know it, Spring is around the corner. There’s no better feeling than dusting off the Winter blues and restyling your home to welcome the new season. In this C&G blog, we share some handy tips on Spring cleaning and preparing your home for more sunlit days!

It’s called Spring cleaning for a reason!

A good Spring clean will leave your space feeling refreshed and revamped. Welcome the sunshine by giving your windows a thorough clean. We’ve most likely kept them shut all Winter, so it’s time to open them up for a healthy dose of fresh air.

Dedicate some time to decluttering each room, disposing or donating items you no longer use. Give all your surfaces a good vacuum or dusting – it’s safe to say no one enjoys hay fever season! By giving your home a thorough dust and declutter, you can keep allergens to a minimum and enjoy the new season in peace.

Once you’ve cleared some space, you could consider moving your furniture around. It’s a simple yet effective way of achieving a fresh new look! You may even find some extra wall space to mount a new painting, or floorspace to roll out a new rug.

Restyle and refresh.

This is the perfect opportunity to bring in new colours and textures to liven up your home. Start by giving your layers – woollen throws or blankets that are lying around – a cleansing wash and storing them away. You may like to keep a lighter throw around for cold evenings, but consider a breathable fabric such as linen and don’t be afraid to experiment with colours and prints. If you’ve been using heavy rugs to keep warm throughout Winter, you can swap them out for lighter alternatives too.

Other simple changes include changing your bedding to a Spring-friendly set-up, adding colourful cushions to your couch, and experimenting with seasonal accessories. Wicker baskets or rattan furniture are excellent for achieving a relaxing yet modern look.

Bring nature indoors.

Spring is the season of growth and rejuvenation. Make that indoor/outdoor connection by adding some green to your interiors. Whether you’re going for big lush leaves or delicate florals, incorporating nature into your home will give your space a much-needed Spring boost!
