C&G’s Guide to the Long Weekend

Tips & Advice

Whether you’re a football fan or not, you’ve been treated to a long weekend! For those not going to the big game, what will you do with the extra time off? You could soak in the sunshine at the Tesselaar Tulip Festival or perhaps wander the Queen Victoria Market in search of your latest read. No need to stress as C&G have your back with this latest blog, which is packed with heaps of fun outings to spend with your family and friends.

Melbourne Book Market

Queen Victoria Market will be hosting a free book market every Sunday until December 15. Bibliophiles can enjoy thousands of new and second-hand books sourced from some of Melbourne’s most experienced booksellers. Books span every genre, ranging from the literary classics to modern travel or cookbooks. There are also vintage collectable titles as well as vinyl records and CDs. Keep an eye out in early October – there will be opportunities to meet author Jane Godwin and illustrator Anna Walker, who worked on the children’s book Tilly. After your book shopping spree, hit up the rest of the market for hundreds of food stalls and local products!

The Winter Village

If you’re holding onto that last bit of winter, don’t forget to check out the Winter Village as it spends its last weekend on top of the Skyline Terrace at Federation Square. Book a private igloo and experience the sunset in a whole new perspective – you couldn’t get this beauty in Winter! Alternatively try your skills at ice skating with 45 minute sessions every day this week. Don’t forget you’ll have to book in for those as well! Lastly, the Village’s Mega Igloo will be the one-stop spot for all winter-themed dining and drinks. This has free entry, so a great option if you’re just dropping by!

Tesselaar Tulip Festival

Take a weekend trip to Silvan’s Tulip Farm to see millions of tulips in full bloom under the gorgeous Spring sunshine. This weekend will be their special Jazz Weekend, which will be packed with heaps of live music, delicious food stalls, and a historic Dutch Cheese Market performance! Did we also mention entry also includes complimentary wine, cider and beer tastings? Book your tickets here!
