C&G’s Guide to the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival

Tips & Advice

Wine Festival, Festival, Bank of Melbourne

It’s a well-known fact that the food game is strong in Melbourne. So strong that we will be celebrating the 9th anniversary of the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival from the 19th until 29th of March! This long-standing partnership with Bank of Melbourne sees hundreds of growers, producers, chefs and winemakers come together to celebrate their love for good food, exceptional wine, and even better company. This latest C&G blog will unpack our most anticipated events, so gather your family and friends and head to Queen Victoria Market, where most of the festival’s events will be held!

Maximum Chips

We all know someone who loves chips! Whether it’s wedge, shoestring, French fry or crinkle-cut, there’ll be something for everyone at this chip craze. Head to Shed X at the Queen Victoria Market on the 20th of March for a casual “Fry-yay” evening involving drinks, entertainment and chips… a lot of chips! The event is ticketed so don’t forget to book your tickets here.

Welcome to the Jungle

Are you curious about trying plant-based cuisines, or just enjoy being surrounded by lots of plants? You can have both at this plant party on the 27th of March at Shed X! For $25 you can enjoy an evening of vegan food, drinks and live music in lush jungle surrounds – book your tickets here.

Date Night Events

Got an anniversary coming up? Or do you simply feel like treating your significant other? Whether you’re cheese or seafood people, there are plenty of events happening all over Melbourne catered to couples! Baysiders will enjoy celebrating St Kilda’s rich and eclectic history at the Those Who Wandered evening at Hotel Esplanade. Otherwise you can check out the full list of date night events here!

Wine Events

It’s a food and wine festival after all! Taste amazing flavours from around the world, including Japanese fine wine from Kisumé or Marameo wine from Italy’s famous volcanic regions! Otherwise, how about beer and wine coupled with clams hosted by Belles Hot Chicken? Follow this link for the full program of restaurants getting creative with their wine list this March!

Dessert

And lastly, how can we forget dessert? The Instagram-popular Black Star Pastry will be collaborating with St Kilda’s Rain Room – we heard there will be a special limited-edition cake served exclusively for this event! Check out the event page for more details and ticket booking. If eating cake in the rain is not quite your thing, there are plenty of other sugar-filled events to satisfy your inner sweet tooth throughout the festival!
