C&G’s Guide to WWF Earth Hour

Tips & Advice

This year the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) will be hosting their annual Earth Hour on Saturday the 28th of March at 8:30pm. Millions of people around the world will #SwitchOff their electricity for one hour in a collective effort to showcase our love and appreciation for earth. This year, it is more important than ever to join the movement and spend quality time with our loved ones. C&G’s latest blog contains some wonderful ideas for spending your Earth Hour – have a read!

Enjoy a candlelit dinner

Many of us will agree: we love buying candles! Now you can put them to good use with a cosy candlelit dinner with good company. You can even take it further by researching sustainable recipes or cook with organic foods that support local sources.

Play some board games

Dust off those board games and enjoy some friendly competition with your family or housemates. We all know some games can go on for hours, so you’ve got your evening sorted!

Enjoy the night sky

We often don’t have enough time to kick back and truly be present with our surroundings. Take an evening stroll around your neighbourhood or lie back and enjoy some stargazing in the backyard. If you live in a high-rise apartment building, enjoy the view from your balcony! This is the perfect opportunity to take in some fresh air, detaching yourself from busy schedules and technology.

Try some yoga

Earth Hour seeks to promote reflection and thought, and what better way to achieve this than trying out some candlelit meditation or mindful yoga? You’ll be able to relax and stretch while clearing your mind of the day-to-day clutter and stress.

Go to bed early

Had a long week? Whether you’re a student, employee or CEO, we’ve all been there. Earth Hour can be the perfect excuse for an earlier lights out if you’ve been craving some much-needed Z’s all day!

These suggestions only scratch the surface – there are plenty of ways to get involved in this year’s Earth Hour! Check out the official website and register your interest!
