Bayside in 5 - What's on this Easter!

It’s Easter already! (How did that happen?!)

If you’re looking for something to keep yourself or the kids entertained over the long weekend, we’ve got you covered. As always, there’s plenty going on around the bay, and in this week’s blog, we’ve rounded up our top local picks.

Concerts by Candlelight

Calling all culture vultures…is there a better way to spend an evening than being immersed in candlelight at an art gallery? We don’t think so! Bring a blanket and cushion to the Artful Yoga Gallery in St Kilda on the 29th, where you can listen to the soulful sounds of three fantastic local musicians. There are quesadillas, burritos and soft drinks on offer, but the event also encourages you to BYO food and beverages for a memorable night.

Location: Artful Yoga Gallery, St Kilda, Melbourne

Dates and times: 29th March 2024, from 7pm - 10:30pm.

The Trust Markets

We’re willing to bet there are very few markets in Melbourne with surrounds as beautiful as the Rippon Lea Estate. But it’s not just the setting that screams quality. The Trust Market is a collaboration between Fitzroy’s beloved Rose St Market and the National Trust, so there are plenty of brilliant finds to uncover, whether you’re after art, jewellery, clothing or a bar of chocolate (it’s Easter, after all!). With such a lovely setting, we’d suggest bringing a picnic blanket and making a day of it. Entry is via a gold coin donation, making it one of the more affordable things to do over Easter.

Location: Rippon Lea Estate

Dates and times: 31 March, 10am - 3pm

Paint in the Dark

Paint in the Dark’s school holiday special promises to be a riot. Using fluoro paints under UV light, little kids and big kids alike can create art that’s truly magical. There’s a great playlist to bop to, and once you’re done with your canvas, you can try your hand at face-painting with (the paints are non-toxic). It’s a great way to get everyone off the screens for a few hours.

Location: Paint for Fun, 252 Graham Street, Port Melbourne VIC

Dates and times: 3rd and 11th of April at 2pm.

The Easter Egg Hunt at Luna Park

Billed as a “chocolate-charged adventure like no other,” the Easter egg hunt at Luna Park is sure to get the kids egg-cited! After the kids have gathered all the chocolate they can find, there’s plenty on offer: you can meet the Easter Bunny, hop on the Great Scenic Railway or give the Supernova a spin.

Location: Luna Park

Dates and times 30th and the 31st March. Times vary.

…and of course, the KIIS Eye!

There are only a few more weeks to catch the iconic KIIS Eye in Catani Gardens before it packs up for the winter. As the tallest transportable wheel of its kind in Australia, it’s well worth the entry fee. From the top, you can enjoy breathtaking views over St Kilda, Melbourne City and Port Phillip Bay. And the best part? Customers of the sea baths and residents of the City of Port Phillip get a discount of up to 30%.

Location: Catani Gardens

Dates and times: Until the 28th of April. Open 4pm - 9.30pm Monday - Friday and 10am – 9.30pm on Weekends.
